There are many kinds of diets out there. The problem is that some of them are not well balanced, and actually not very good for your body.

This is why you need to be careful about which one you choose. In this article we will tell you about the Indian diet which is based on the ancient traditions of this country.

What is the Indian diet?

The Indian diet tastes good

When you see the word “cure”, you probably immediately think of restrictions and foods one should not eat. But that does not have to be the case.

When it comes to Indian food, you are going to use ingredients from a culture that is thousands of years old. This kind of food is based on  not mixing proteins with carbohydrates in the same dish,  for example.

Basically, the Indian diet includes brown rice, lots of vegetables, and some fruits (oranges, apples, lemons and grapefruits)

  • It is recommended to  eat 3 meals a day, plus a snack if you are hungry. The snack should consist of fruit or low-fat yogurt.
  • It is also a good idea to  chew the food thoroughly  (about 100 times), to help digestion and get the food through the system faster.
  • It is important to  drink 2 liters of water and unsweetened green tea during the day.
  • And lastly, do not forget about physical activity: a 40 minute walk is ideal.

The Indian diet: pros and cons

This is what you need to know about the Indian diet

Many people look to Indian food when they want to lose weight. After all, it is possible to lose up to 4.5 kilos in two weeks, it  is estimated.

But the downside of this cure is that it can get a little monotonous. It requires a lot of self-discipline, and should not be used by people with high blood pressure.

In addition, it should not be followed for more than 15 days as it does not provide the body with important vitamins such as A, B12 and D, or minerals such as iron and calcium.

The most important aspect of this cure is the combination of foods. For example, you can eat lasagna or pasta with vegetables, omelettes with onions and tomatoes, rice with vegetables, red meat (but not from a cow) with a salad, etc.

Rice is the basis of the Indian diet. To give flavor, you can use different herbs and spices that are typical of that country: cardamom, curry, cinnamon, cayenne pepper or saffron.

These spices  will also cause your body temperature to rise, and help you burn more fat.

Examples of meals in the Indian cure

For those who like to cook, and do not bother to get bored when following the Indian diet, here we suggest some typical dishes from this culture, which are suitable for weight loss.

That way, your diet plan will not seem so monotonous or restrictive.
