Being Weird And Ingenious Is Sometimes Related
Being weird and ingenious is sometimes intertwined. The person who dares to be something weird and who enjoys every moment is brilliant. No doubt you also know someone who has a very unusual style. They do not care if they go against the trend. They just keep driving out of there, making decisions for themselves, while others might see their choices as insane.
These people are admirable, brave, and free. In fact, it is possible that you are already one of them. But if you feel this urge inside you, and have not yet dared to follow it, then we suggest that you try to set the change in motion.
Dare to be the strange person your soul wants to be. Dare to be significant every day of your life.
To be strange in a society that wants us all to be the same
It is strange to see that we live in an age that sociologists and anthropologists have classified as a “knowledge society.”
Our technological and scientific advances have made extraordinary progress and have undoubtedly changed many of our lifestyles. Human values and relationships, however, have been secondary to these advances.
Fundamental values such as solidarity, respect and tolerance are almost conspicuous in their absence.
We fear the “others” who come from a foreign country. Those who dare to speak out against an ideology, a power structure, or a common way of thinking.
We live in a reality where the way you dress is more valued than who you are. This has been explained many times in connection with a concept derived by Zygmunt Bauman, a famous sociologist who defined us as a “floating society.”
- Most people are dominated by emotional consumerism and materialism. We barely take the time to meet people we come in contact with; fast relationships and instant pleasures are the norm.
- Being different creates strangeness and suspicion because it is not the norm and does not fit into the model of society, which says that we should not leave our comfort zones and instead be guided by trends, what others decide and what we buy.
Dare to be different and break the bonds that bind you
There are many children sitting in the back of the classroom watching their classmates with a mixture of sadness and lack of understanding.
- It is possible that these extraordinary children have been called “strange.” It may be that their abilities are so remarkable that even their teachers have recognized this and think they are just lazy or troublemakers.
- There have been many people in our society who have been called “weird” when in fact they were, or are, extraordinary.
Think of Steve Jobs or Bill Gates who did not finish school and who dared to be true to their instincts. While others did not understand them or even criticized them.
These complex and transcendent figures continue to set examples for young people today.
We are all subject to strings that move around in ways that are both subtle and constant:
- The way you were brought up and what your family still expects from you
- The fashion industry with sizes that make you feel like you need to lose weight and with ideals of beauty and behavior that you need to fit into to be successful.
- When someone is labeled “strange” by those around them, they often get the feeling that they do not fit. And that there is something fundamentally wrong with them internally because others do not expect their character traits to differ from the usual qualities.
These are meaningless causes of suffering that you must learn to ignore.
- In a world of people who are identical, the real value comes from being able to break the rules and have your own voice.
- Those who do not accept your particular qualities, opinions or life choices. Or looking at them with contempt – does not deserve your sincere devotion.
- You need to show them respect, but it is always better to escape the suffering that results from a feeling that they are not able to accept you.
Believe it or not, regardless of your strange qualities, your madness, or your genius. Will there always be someone to share it with you and who will be able to identify with it. In the end, we are all beautiful and unusual people, and all we need is courage and ambition.
Take the plunge. Dare to be who you are every day of your life.
