  • 66 ml cup of distilled water

  • 15 drops of essential oil (of your choice)

  • A mold for soap, or the bottom of a plastic bottle
  • Eye protection when handling sodium hydroxide
  • A hand mixer
  • A pot
  • A glass container
  • A wooden spoon

How to make this homemade aloe vera soap?

  • Put on safety goggles and carefully place the glass container in the sink.
  • First add sodium hydroxide and then distilled water.
  • Be sure to avoid any splashes.
  • When the mixture starts to steam, let it cool.
  • Be sure to have a fan or air out in the room you are working in.
  • Now put olive oil and coconut oil in a pan over low heat, and when it reaches about 45 ° C (fairly hot), remove it from the heat and mix in sodium hydroxide and and water with a hand mixer.
  • Start at low speed to avoid splashing, gradually raising it until it has the consistency of a gel.
  • Add aloe vera and essential oils without waiting for it to cool and mix well.
  • Pour this mixture into the mold and cover it with a towel to keep the heat inside.
  • Leave it until it is cold, between 12 and 24 hours.
  • When it is cold, you can remove your soap from the mold.
  • Store it in a cool, dry place to harden and mature, usually for a month to two and a half months.

Handle sodium hydroxide very carefully and make sure to keep children and animals away from your work area.

Always use eye and hand protection because it is a very corrosive material.

If any of it stays on the skin, apply some vinegar to the area immediately.

Glycerin soap with aloe vera

An easier solution for making soap with aloe vera is to buy a piece of glycerin soap, heat it in a water bath and mix in aloe vera gel.

Then you can pour this mixture into your bowl and you will soon have a piece of glycerin aloe vera soap.
